Aliyah Gifts
Aliyah is the act of a Jew moving to live in Israel. It is one of the most significant decisions a person can make in their life. It involves leaving family, leaving career, leaving the country of birth, and committing to a new identity inside the Jewish homeland.
A gift for someone making aliyah needs to do something specific. It needs to honour what they are choosing, support them through the transition, and connect them to something they will recognise when they land. A Couture piece works because it is made in Israel. The recipient arrives at their new country and the piece they were given to mark the move was produced in that same country. The symbolism is structural, not added.
Pieces for the new arrival
Letterform Hoodie — Men ($220)
The major aliyah gift. A heavyweight hoodie with Hebrew letterforms embroidered into the fabric. They will wear it in the first weeks while they are still figuring out the country.
Hamsa Embroidered Hoodie — Women ($220)
The Hamsa is the symbol of protection. A meaningful piece to give to a woman moving to a new country alone or with young children.
Denim Cap — Lion Spirit ($90)
A smaller, easier-to-pack gift from a friend or distant family member. The Lion of Judah travels with the new oleh into their new country.
A note on timing
Aliyah gifts are usually given at the going-away gathering before the move. The piece travels with the recipient in their luggage. Order three weeks before the planned send-off to allow for embroidered pieces to be produced and delivered.
If the timing is tight or the goodbye is happening on short notice, lighter pieces (T-shirts, caps) ship faster than embroidered hoodies and denim jackets.
